Numskull: High Contrast solo exhibition: Mild Manners Gallery: Sydney

Since his last Sydney exhibition in 2012 Elliott Routledge, or Numskull as he’s been known as for the past 15 years, has been working on large scale murals and outdoor installations for the likes of Art & About Festival, and most recently his month long residency at the prestigious Museums Quartier in Vienna, Austria.

High Contrast is the artist’s reaction to human conditioning in regards to materialism & consumerism. These artworks are embedded with shapes and symbols that have been chosen to represent certain aspects of human culture and the potential future we live in. With subtle references to rave culture, the work uses imagery and lyrics from classic songs as a vehicle to highlight these conditions and ultimately encourage a new way of thinking.
