I didn’t know where I could fit into the presenting / TV industry so one day a good friend of mine basically said to me – why don’t you just host your own show!
Name: Noah Fuzi
Occupation: Skateboarder / Student
Location: Sydney, Australia
When did you start skating?
I started skating when I was around 10 years old.
Why did you start?
I started because my older brother wanted to try it and so if he was gonna give it a crack, then so did I! My dad surfed and was from that world so it was only natural I was gonna end up doing some type of board sport whether it was in the ocean or on the land.
Besides skating what other creative passion do you have?
Lately I have taken a massive interest towards the entertainment / media industry, like acting, presenting and making short films. I just think it’s exciting learning new skills and making projects with people!
When you aren’t skating what else do you get up to?
I’m also studying at Uni, well trying to anyway. And if I’m not there or skating I’m hanging out with friends and just kicking it. I also love to surf, but lately I just haven’t had any spare time. Most of my spare time has been going towards making Fuzi TV which is my new web series I started!
What have been some highlights over the past 12 months?
The past 12 months have been pretty crazy, I co-starred in a short film with one of my best friends Noah Regan and the film has been featured in a lot of film festivals around the world the past couple months! It’s been a trip watching it on the big screen in front of an audience and seeing how they react to it. Other than that, this past year I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world and skate and just have fun doing what I love.
Also, a big highlight for 2018 is that I started a Web Series called Fuzi TV! Which is something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while now and I am psyched to get it going! I’ve been putting a lot of work into with my friend Gabe Hanvey who has been filming it!
Tell us about Fuzi TV?
Basically, I didn’t know where I could fit into the presenting / TV industry so one day I was speaking to a good friend of mine Rene and she basically said to me why don’t you just host your own show! And then after a little brainstorming I decided to make a web series to highlight what the life of a travelling skateboarder is like!
What changes have you seen in the industry towards creating content?
With social media its just a different world now, everything is instant and people want to see it now!
Has this affected your approach to filmmaking?
I just feel like I am constantly trying to keep up on social media with everyone I see ripping from around the world and I’ll make sure to film something and post it up there at least once a week. I mean people put out the raddest stuff and it’s such a good way for people to get recognised quickly and to share what they can do. And then yeah with Fuzi TV I’m just trying to get good content and put it out as soon as I can!
It’s been a big learning experience figuring out what to film and how much to film to reduce editing time as much as possible, but Gabe and I have definitely been getting better as the episodes go on!
What is the secret ingredient to success?
Hard work. I see so many groms being impatient with skating and wanting to be the best or do the craziest stuff now! But what they don’t understand is it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. It took me a year to learn how to kick flip haha! Nothing ever came easy to me in skateboarding or film making, I worked at it everyday to get to where I am now. I think with the whole social media world everything is just becoming instant and kids see this and want to do it now.
Who do you admire?
I cant really think off the top of my head to be honest, I wouldn’t really say I admire but more I’m inspired by the people around me, skateboarders, creators everyone being creative really.
If I’m on the internet I’m probably on YouTube watching skateboarding or something.
I use the podcast app a lot now on my phone. Whenever I’m working or bored ill just chuck a podcast on.
Favourite place to travel?
That’s a tough one, I really don’t know I’m just stoked whenever i get the opportunity to go anywhere and travel full stop!
One thing you would like to do but haven’t got around to it yet?
I really want to go sky diving! My girlfriend said she bought me a sky diving ticket for my 19th birthday but it’s just never happened. I’m petrified of heights but I would love to concur that one day by getting chucked out of an aeroplane haha
Anything else you would like to add?
Not really but thanks for chatting to me! And to anyone reading this go check out Fuzi TV and let me know what you think!
Do what you want…and have fun with it!
