Bar’el Wachtel: Cloud 9: Fiji

“I came from a family of entrepreneurs and privateers. I learned most of what matters from them because of them”
Name: Bar’el Wachtel
Occupation: Boss @ Cloud 9
Hometown: Sydney
Currently Location: Fiji

Cloud 9 is a floating bar situated on Ro Ro Reef, Fiji.  It’s surrounded by aqua blue, crystal clear waters and has been operating the past several years. The man behind this stunning existence is founder, Bar’el Wachtel.

Bar’el has had an amazing life career. He is a classically-trained Afro-Caribbean percussionist and DJ. As one of the founding members of Sydney-based band ‘Martini Club’ he spent last decade touring with this ground-breaking band.

He is a surfer, snowboarder and sailor and a bit of an adventure man – we like it! He has bordered the Himalayas venturing into Gulmarg, his local surf spot is the famous Cloud Break where the Fiji Pro surf competition was recently held. He is a man of the sea and has sailed half the world with his farther and friends and his latest venture now is the ‘one of a kind’ bar, Cloud 9, Fiji.

Barel lives on his yacht “Regina” and operates Cloud 9 seven days a week! AR was invited to spend a week on Regina to experience the sea life and all that Cloud 9 has to offer. It was one hell of a week with random adventures happening daily. There was a pant load of  laughter, surfing, boating, diving, swimming, eating, music, drinking and making new “yachty” friends. Thank you Barel, Cloud 9 staff and all the new friends I made for an epic experience I’ll never forget!

The instruments I use… Ableton LIVE. LP Percussion.

I’m most creative when I’m… not stressed.
