Byron Bay based, (surf / travel / fashion) photographer, Ming Nomchong who is also the founder of The Drifter Blog, recently visited her beloved Fiji for a couple of weeks to capture this epic adventure.
Fiji, is her home away from home – her happy place. Ming was so fortunate to be able to share this trip with my sister, Jia and her partner Wispy to show them some of the hidden gems that only a local would know.
The trip was meant to be part work part play but due to crappy weather and strong winds it ended up being mostly forced hammock relaxation time. Which was exactly what Ming needed. They did a little shooting in the water and playing by the shore while the sun came out to play, making palm shelters and eating freshly plucked coconuts till our tummies hurt. They spent most of their time down at the coral coast at Ming’s favourite little hideaway, The Beach House. From there they would go adventuring up and down the coast, to waterfalls and little villages, or out to sea along the coast, to snorkel or find whichever of the numerous local breaks were working that day. Ming love’s that you can turn up to one of these breaks and have it to yourself the whole session. You don’t find that many places round the world.
