Name: Azar Kazimir

Occupation: Art director / illustrator / graphic designer

Hometown: London

Currently residing: Berlin

Music: At the moment I’m listening to stuff from Freerange and Delusions of Grandeur from London, the 6th Borough Project, all the stuff coming out of Wolf & Lamb. The Voices of Black did one of the finest mixtapes I heard in 2011. My favourite record of the last year was ‘Coastal Grooves’ by Blood Orange. I mix the house stuff up with excursions into hip hop. Check out ‘Yonkers’ by Tyler The Creator on youtube.

Art: I’m going through a phase now where it’s important for me to avoid looking at other art. I really need to pull my work out from inside of me, without feeling external influences. If I go to a show, it will be to see some very old paintings. Persian miniatures, or something like that. The Hokusai retrospective recently blew me away.

Technology: Kind of love hate it all really. My work is all hand drawn basically, but in the end, I really can’t get away from my damn mac.

Lifestyle: I’m definitely part of the easyJet scene. My home is in Spain, near Barcelona, but for work I’m based in Berlin, so there’s quite a bit of back and forth. I’m a big fan of Warsaw at the moment. It’s a really fun, exciting place to be, with lots of creative stuff happening and great bars and wonderful food. When you’re there, head to Przekąski Zakąski for a vodka and a plate of herring. That place is mind-blowing, especially very late at night.

Current Top 5: I’m a bit out of the loop at the moment. But looking forward to a Woodkid album later this year. The Polish Poster Bienale takes place this summer, which is essential viewing. I wanna see
